A cum laude graduate from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Intravia is an alumni of St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. His internship and residency were at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York, New York. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut before opening a private practice in Middletown in 1980. He is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Intravia merged his solo practice in partnership with MGA in 1996. Currently he is the Chief of the Gastroenterology Section at Middlesex Hospital.

Dr. Intravia is a member of the Gastroenterological Association and in 2007 was inducted as an AGA Fellow, an honor bestowed by the AGA for superior professional achievement in practice and/or research in the field of gastroenterology. He is also a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, Alpha Omega Alpha, the Connecticut State Medical Society and the Middlesex County Medical Association where he served as President from 1990-1992.

Dr. Intravia's special interests include colorectal cancer and polyp screening and surveillance, inflammatory bowel disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease and liver diseases.
