Dr. Koobatian attended Tufts University where he earned his Medical degree, a Masters degree in Public Health and an undergraduate degree in Biology. He completed internship and residency at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC.
Following residency Dr. Koobatian was awarded the Irving Fellowship at the Lahey Clinic where he conducted research in the field of gastroenterology that was published and presented at national and international medical conferences. He followed Lahey with a clinical fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California, Irvine. Upon the conclusion of his fellowship, Dr. Koobatian was invited to and remained on faculty at UC Irvine.
In 2000, Dr. Koobatian left private practice in Los Angeles and joined Middlesex Gastroenterology Associates. He became a partner in 2001. He is a senior attending at Middlesex Hospital and is the Chairman of the hospital’s Graduate Education and Medical Education Committees. He also serves on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Dr. Koobatian is Board Certified in Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is also active in organized medicine both at the local and state level. He is a Director and a Delegate of the Middlesex County Medical Society and an Associate Councilor on the Board of the Connecticut State Medical Society.
Dr. Koobatian is married and has three children. He enjoys spending time with family and friends.
